Pravinafoi Raiyani, PhD

Pujya Pravinafoi holds a place of pride in our family and I am honoured to have shared the best moments of my childhood and youth time in vayudevta wadi since the fifties not to mention the very early childhood at Daminisadan.

She holds a place of pride not only due to her educational accolades and material success but also because of her attitude, kindness, care and concern for others. Besides, her own quiet and social nature full of patience and meticulous hardwork not only made her a natural motiben in Venilal-Kumud household but also in the Lalsodagar family at large.

Being a good teacher in her early years, and I remember this well as we helped her add up the marks totals when she examined the bundles and bundles of answer papers, feeling empowered somehow though we only added up the totals, she brought up her daughters so well that in turn it showed in their behaviour.

In spite of the riches and intellectual achievements where they excelled beyond ordinary, their attitude always remained grounded and of appropriate etiquette, as I remember everytime we met them, when they were young, that they met all with modesty and due affection and respect.

In a busy world of hers bringing up four daughters, grooming them into fine human beings, and with due support from pujya fuaji, she attempting and obtaining her doctorate is a feat which makes one clap spontaneously and from the bottom of our hearts.

In many ways Pravina foi is an unsung hero of our family and perhaps it's due to her name rasi Kanya or Virgo which prefers to do all the good work but like to maintain low profile being very modest.

So it was left to another Virgo person like me to highlight her name and place it before you to describe her pride of place in our family.

On this birthday as she turns 82 and with God's grace enjoys good health having willingly lost some extra weight, we all wish her a longer and healthy life and continue to be in our midst for a long long time.
